about

Fimbria (2014–) is an electronic solo project of American-born composer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter Brian Castriota based out of Glasgow, Scotland. Fimbria's debut single "Forgiveness" was released in September of 2014 on FMT Recordings, accompanied by a remix from Swedish musician and producer Nicolas Makelberge. This was followed by "Northern Winds", a five-track EP released as a limited edition cassette in December of 2014.

Fimbria's first full-length album "Eternal Return" was released on Cadent Records in October of 2017. The songs on "Eternal Return" were composed using a palette of vintage MIDI and voltage-controlled synthesizers, sequencers, and drum machines, drawing inspiration from such new age and electronic music pioneers as Suzanne Ciani, Harold Budd, John Kerr, and Enya.

“Beneath these expert caresses emerge at times stoic pop monuments, at times analgesic runes, traced in some deaf clay, always in favor of an emotional topography with fantasized contours, austere as a Mycenean Kouros, rectilinear as a peripteros. Something rare and almost shocking, and thus resolutely precious. Like the golden apple of a logic, of a vanished or long since undecipherable state of mind.” - Remí Parson, Été Maussade

"Like the soundtrack to the last few shots of a movie that had a pretty unhappy ending, one of those achey coda endings that's mildly hopeful but it just seems that way relative to how grim the conclusion was in the penultimate scene." -Anonymous
